This is a podcast about three Gen X sisters who grew up in New Jersey in the 80s and 90s, but it’s basically about anyone who grew up in the 80s and 90s.

The show is named for that traumatizing movie scene from The Neverending Story: When Atreyu’s horse Artax drowns in the Swamps of Sadness.

It’s the best GenX metaphor we can think of. And no, we’re not over it.

So if you’re dying for a little dose of nostalgia right about now? A little second-hand embarrassment? And just enough woo to get you through?

Welcome to Generation Artax.

About your Hosts

Terri Trespicio

Terri Trespicio is the oldest sister, single, never married, no kids, and gay AF. She moved to New York City when she was 36, gave a TEDx talk when she was 41, and came out at 50. She’s a writer, speaker, sometime comic, business owner, and author of Unfollow Your Passion: How to Create a Life that Matters to You (Atria/Simon & Schuster). Her TEDx talk, “Stop Searching for Your Passion,” has been viewed 8+ million times. Her writing has been featured in Business Insider, HuffPost Personal, Cup of Jo, and others.

She earned her undergrad at Boston College, and her MFA in creative writing from Emerson College. When she got laid off from a magazine, she started her own business and didn’t know her ass from a hole in the ground. Today, she’s founder of The Studio, a live, virtual, real-time writing program where you can get your work done. Learn more at territrespicio.com/studio.

Kim O’Brien

Kim O’Brien is the middle sister, and the trad wife of the bunch. She is also, arguably, the nicest. She is married to Joe O’Brien, her college sweetheart of 28 years, the mother of Mason and Kenzie, who are old enough to drive around and lead their own lives. She’s the one sister who never danced, sang, acted, or performed, who loathes public speaking of any kind, and yet has an impressive TikTok and zero problems hosting a podcast for some reason.

She is also the production and video editor of Generation Artax and gets credit for most woman hours on this show. She also graduated from Boston College. Surprise surprise.

Lori Regan

Lori Regan is the youngest sister, a divorced full-time working mom of 2 tweens: Graham and Evie. She has spent 19 years in the pharmaceutical industry in commercial ops but don’t ask us what that means. Previous to that, she was on a little-known show called The Real World (2001’s season 10 “Back to New York”) and made it to the finale of The Real World Road Rules Challenge (2002’s “Battle of the Sexes”), where she had a little taste of fame and it was very terrifying.

It’s worth adding that Lori is a phenomenal singer who regularly belts out the hits with a popular Boston-based cover band called Dick N Jane. She lives with her partner Gordie and his kids, in one big ol’ Brady Bunch situation in MA.. She also went to Boston College (duh) and sang with The Bostonians.
